THE DOORS / On It´s way!

Finally! Today Tim Prebble announced that The Doors library is finished. Tim Prebble is a well known Sound Designer from New Zealand and this is his first crowd sourcing library project. About 100 recordists contributed to this project. Each of us had to record ten doors in all kinds of variations. Tim wrote “Its an awesome collection of 121GB and 5,241 files!!”

Anyone who has done sound effects editing on a movie knows how hard it is to find appropriate sounds for a particular door. I can´t wait to hold this library in my hands and hope it will serve me well in the future. For those who did not contribute and are interested in The Doors Library it will be available on Hiss And A Roar in the near future!

this is one of the doors I recorded for this Library.

BALKON / Fieldrecording Istanbul

I just finished my work on this beautiful short film by Lars Kreysig. On his website he describes it with the following words:

“Night-time observations of a courtyard somewhere in the middle of Istanbul - roof tops, brief glimpses into apartments, a handful of inhabitants. Recorded from a single balcony, these scenes resemble miniatures of everyday life in this sprawling metropolis.”

For this project I had the oportunity to travel to Istanbul for four days to record all sorts of atmospheres at night time. It was a great trip and I recorded a lot of sounds. Distant city echos, car horns, the first call of a muezin in the morning or sea gulls that fly over the city at night. With all these authentic and inspiring sounds on my hard drive it was sheer joy to do the sound design and mix for this very atmospheric film.

For the recordings I brought my shoeps ms set and my small and handy sony pcm 50 recorder with me. Both devices delivered great results!

TONSTURM is born!

O.K. here we go! We launched the new sound effects website TONSTURM. Our first sound pack is called Breaking Glass. It was an awful lot of work but at the moment we feel proud and very happy. TONSTURM is a project I run together with Emil Klotzsch.

Our first sound pack features a big collection of very unique glass effect recordings. The sounds were captured during extensive recording sessions in the field and in a recording studio. All sounds were recorded, edited and mastered in High Definition Audio @ 24 Bit, 192 KHz.

I just finished my work on the sound effects for U.F.O
